Square One Law acts for Highbridge Properties in a development agreement for Sainsbury’s

North East commercial law firm, Square One Law, has acted for Highbridge Properties on a development agreement between Sainsbury’s and the Homes & Community agency at Ansty Park, near Coventry.

The agreement will enable the supermarket chain to grow its future business operations at the site as the proposed development could comprise up to 430,000 sq ft of office and ancillary accommodation.

Sainsbury’s and Highbridge have jointly submitted a planning application to Rugby Borough Council. The retailer aims to create a sustainable landmark office development and is keen to ensure that the additional buildings will compliment the existing architecture and integrate with the wider, high-quality Ansty Park setting.

Highbridge Properties was formed in 1988 and has become well established as one of the country’s leading business park developers. Highbridge, which is best known in the north east for its Cobalt and Indigo sites, was fundamental to the development of Ansty Park, which is owned by the Homes and Communities Agency, and was a key player in Sainsbury’s initial move to the site in 2013.

Adrian Hill, Director of Highbridge Properties, said “Sainsbury’s decision underscores the quality of Ansty Park in terms of the scheme’s location and quality. There can be no doubt that Ansty Park has established itself as one of the leading business park developments in the country.”

Head of Square One Law’s property team, Barney Frith, said: “Ansty Park is a fantastic strategic hub within the West Midlands. With its close proximity to Coventry and Warwick and access to a number of key motorways it is easy to see why the likes of Sainsbury’s have established a base here.

Square One Law have worked with Highbridge on a number of deals, in the north east and other parts of the country, and we were delighted to be able to assist with the continued development of this influential site.”

Adrian Hill said: “Barney has built a strong relationship with us over the years and we know we can rely on him and his team to go above and beyond to help us successfully develop our projects.”
